About The Position

This position involves teaching an introductory course on Latin American Studies in the evening school program at Brigham Young University (BYU). The role requires preparing and delivering lectures, creating assessments, and communicating regularly with the LAS Academic Program Director. The successful candidate will also collaborate with coordinators and department chairs of affiliated programs, such as Spanish and Portuguese, and adhere to BYU's faculty standards. Applicants must be willing to relocate to Utah for the duration of their employment.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree is required, preferably in a related field. The required degree must be completed by the start date.
  • Experience teaching Latin American topics.
  • Ability to create curriculum that is current and relevant to the changing cultural and political environment in Latin American countries.
  • Experience in adapting curriculum to meet specific audience needs.
  • Strong familiarity with the key concepts outlined in the approved course curriculum.
  • Must relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and teach all aspects of the course, including in-class lectures, assessments, and assignments.
  • Regular communication with the LAS Academic Program Director.
  • Meet all standards outlined for faculty at Brigham Young University.
  • Willingness to collaborate with coordinators and department chair of affiliated programs (including Spanish and Portuguese).
