About The Position

This position involves teaching an introductory course on Latin American Studies in the evening school program. The role requires preparing and delivering course content, including lectures, assessments, and assignments. The instructor will be expected to maintain regular communication with the LAS Academic Program Director and adhere to Brigham Young University's faculty standards. Collaboration with coordinators and department chairs of affiliated programs, such as Spanish and Portuguese, is also expected. The position requires the successful candidate to relocate to and reside in Utah for the duration of their employment.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree is required, preferably in a related field. The required degree must be completed by the start date.
  • Experience teaching Latin American topics.
  • Ability to create curriculum that is current and relevant to the changing cultural and political environment in Latin American countries.
  • Experience in adapting curriculum to meet specific audience needs.
  • Strong familiarity with the key concepts outlined in the approved course curriculum.
  • Must relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of employment.
  • If a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: must hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
  • Must abide by the university's Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards.
  • Successful candidates are expected to support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university within the context of the principles and doctrines of the affiliated church.
