About The Position

This position is for an Adjunct Instructor responsible for providing instruction in assigned subject areas, including German, Spanish, or Sign Language. The instructor will utilize various instructional strategies suitable for different learning environments (classroom, online, hybrid, lab) and student needs. Responsibilities include student evaluation, recordkeeping, and assisting with departmental assessment data. The role also requires staying current in subject matter through professional development and contributing to administrative tasks like ordering supplies and books. A key aspect of this role is promoting a culture of belonging, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students, faculty, and staff, and supporting college policies on access and equal opportunities.

Requirements

  • For Spanish and German: Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the language OR Bachelor’s degree in the language, plus a minimum of 6 graduate credits in the language, and an approved plan to complete a Master’s degree within 2 years that includes 18 graduate credits in the subject area.
  • For Sign Language: Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in American Sign Language Interpreting, Deaf Studies, or a related field.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree with documentation of at least 2 years of experience in the field and possession of the Nebraska Interpreter License.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction to students according to the objectives of each course assigned.
  • Teach courses in German, Spanish, or Sign Language.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies appropriate to individual student needs, including lecture, small groups, demonstrations, and computer-assisted instruction.
  • Prepare and administer evaluation instruments and maintain accurate student records on attendance, achievement, and progress.
  • Assist in gathering and interpreting data for department assessment.
  • Increase and improve personal teaching and subject knowledge through professional development.
  • Provide information and data to assist in the preparation of supply and equipment orders, course schedules, book orders, and other necessary reports.
  • Support and promote an environment of belonging where all students, faculty members, and college employees feel welcomed, valued, and empowered to contribute.
  • Foster a community where each individual and their varied perspectives enrich the educational experience and create a safe and respectful environment.
