About The Position

NHTI is seeking a qualified adjunct faculty member to teach Physical Assessment. This course provides students with essential knowledge in physical assessment, focusing on practical applications and real-world relevance. The course includes a lecture component (PEM-117) and an associated integration lab (PEM-161). The lecture component integrates knowledge and terminology for physical assessment, including life span differences and assessment of acute and chronic patients. The lab component is scenario-driven, designed to develop team leadership skills and clinical decision-making, emphasizing paramedic assessment skills, treatment aims, and outcomes, drawing from knowledge in Physical Assessment, Cardiology I, and Advanced Trauma.

Requirements

• Minimum of associate degree (bachelor’s or higher preferred) from a recognized college or university with a major study in nursing, health, education, emergency medicine, or a related field.
• Minimum of two years’ experience as a paramedic, nurse, or advanced medical provider (APRN, PA, MD/OD).
• Current employment as a medical provider (prehospital preferred).
• Preference given to applicants with experience in emergency medicine and to applicants with experience as an educator (especially paramedic-level).
• Licensure as a paramedic (New Hampshire preferred), nurse, or advanced medical provider (APRN, PA, MD/OD).
• Paramedic applicants must have, or be willing to obtain, EMS Instructor I certification within 1 year.
• Knowledge of education and accreditation standards (state and national) and principles, methods, techniques, tools and equipment in subjects being taught.
• Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and as a member of academic department/team.
• Ability to handle matters with diplomacy and to maintain confidentiality, as appropriate.
• Ability to exercise professional judgment and proper decision-making.
• Must be willing to maintain an appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college.
• Must reside in NH, VT, ME, MA, RI, or CT.

Nice To Haves

• Preference given to applicants with experience in emergency medicine and to applicants with experience as an educator (especially paramedic-level).
• Preference given to applicants holding American Heart Association Instructor certifications in ACLS, PALS, and BLS.

Responsibilities

• Teach the assigned course using provided curriculum and instructional materials aligned with program, state, and national standards
• Facilitate class discussions, assignments, and assessments to foster student engagement and learning
• Provide regular feedback to students and the program’s Lead Instructor and/or Program Coordinator
• Maintain accurate records of student progress
• Maintain courses on the college’s learning management system (LMS), keeping in compliance with ADA Title II, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
• Maintain professional currency in the field and comply with college policies and standards
