About The Position

Dominican University’s Brennan School of Business seeks a part-time Adjunct Faculty member to teach Financial Reporting II (ACCT 714-01) during the Fall 2026 semester. This graduate-level course is a required course in the Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) program and provides students with an in-depth examination of financial reporting concepts and practices. Course topics include the accounting treatment of property, plant, and equipment; depreciation and impairment; intangible assets; current and long-term liabilities; stockholders’ equity; earnings per share; and related financial statement reporting issues. The course will be delivered in an online asynchronous format over an 8-week session from October 19, 2026, through December 11, 2026.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Accounting or a Master’s degree in Business Administration (with a concentration in accounting) from an AACSB accredited institution.
  • CPA licensure.
  • Recent professional experience in financial reporting, auditing, corporate accounting, or a closely related accounting field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial accounting concepts and the application of accounting standards and reporting practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior college-level teaching experience.
  • Experience teaching Accounting in person or online, preferably in an asynchronous format.
  • Experience using Canvas or another learning management system.
  • Relevant professional or applied experience in Accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver course instruction consistent with the approved syllabus and learning outcomes.
  • Prepare instructional materials, assignments, and assessments appropriate to the discipline.
  • Foster an engaging and inclusive learning environment that supports student success.
  • Submit grades and required academic records accurately and on time.
  • Maintain reasonable availability to students, including scheduled office hours.
  • Respond to student communications in a timely manner.
  • Administer course evaluations.
  • Follow university academic policies and student accommodation procedures.
  • Coordinate with the Associate Dean and the Department Chair regarding course delivery and academic matters.
