About The Position

The Addiction Outpatient Coordinator oversees outpatient program operations, staff supervision, and clinical services to ensure quality care and compliance with agency and regulatory standards. This role provides leadership through staff development, scheduling, performance management, and quality assurance while also delivering direct client services including assessments, counseling, crisis intervention, and treatment planning.

Requirements

  • Eligibility for certification in South Dakota is required.
  • Bachelor degree in the field of rehabilitation/behavioral science with emphasis in Human Services.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in providing drug and alcohol or pathological gambling counseling.
  • Previous training in individual and group therapy theory and techniques.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal alcohol and drug agencies.
  • Possession of a valid South Dakota Driver’s License.
  • Responsible for providing own work related transportation.
  • Current HSA Policies and Procedures apply.
  • It is the responsibility of the employee to read, understand, and comply with HSA policies and procedures that apply to protected information and security.

  • Services provided by HSA will be welcoming, accessible, integrated, and responsive to the complex needs of people with co-occurring disorders/conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight and supervision to department staff.
  • Develops, implements, enforces, systematically reviews, updates, and communicates relevant policies and procedures.
  • Reviews all relevant contract attachments and administrative rules, communicating the terms of these contract attachments and administrative rules, ensuring ongoing staff accessibility to these documents.
  • Meets individually with staff and conducts departmental meetings at least monthly.
  • Develops, reviews, and complies with departmental budget parameters.
  • Maintains compliance with requirements for accreditation and regulatory agencies (i.e. Administrative Rules, Contract Attachments, etc.).
  • Performs intakes and evaluations of clients referred to the Human Service Agency with possible drug, alcohol, and/or gambling problems.
  • Develops, monitors, and updates individual treatment plans as needed.
  • Conducts individual counseling and group therapy.
  • Provides crisis intervention as needed with caseload clients or as assigned based on availability or on-call schedules.
  • Provides discharge and aftercare planning, including coordinating the development of aftercare plans with the client, facilitating aftercare and discharge planning conferences with the client.
  • Make aftercare referrals to self-help groups and additional professional services as needed.
  • Participates in the planning, development, and implementation of programs and clinical services.
  • Provides routine lectures and psycho-educational activities as a routine part of prevention and treatment programming as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned consistent with exempt functions.
