About The Position

Seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist to support the accounting team in Troy, MI. This role will focus heavily on construction AR, including AIA billing and progress invoicing, with additional AP support as needed. The ideal candidate has strong experience in construction accounting, understands the project lifecycle, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, fully onsite environment.

Requirements

3+ years of Accounts Receivable experience within construction (commercial or residential).
Strong hands-on experience with AIA invoicing (G702/G703).
Solid understanding of construction billing concepts: retainage, change orders, progress billing.
Experience working with accounting or construction ERP systems.
Proficiency with Excel and standard accounting tools.
Comfortable working 100% onsite in Troy, MI.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience supporting both AR and AP in a construction environment.
Experience working with general contractors or multifamily/commercial construction firms.
Familiarity with lien waivers, compliance documentation, and job-cost accounting.

Responsibilities

Prepare and submit AIA G702/G703 progress billings for construction projects.
Manage construction billing schedules, including schedule of values (SOV), retainage, change orders, and lien-related documentation.
Generate and submit customer invoices in accordance with contract terms.
Track AR aging and follow up on outstanding balances; assist with collections as needed.
Apply customer payments accurately and reconcile discrepancies.
Coordinate closely with project managers and operations to ensure accurate, timely billing.
Assist with AP processing as needed, including vendor invoices, coding, and approvals.
Help maintain accurate AP/AR records to support month-end close activities.
Cross-cover AP responsibilities to support team continuity during peak periods.
