About The Position
RDO Equipment Co. is hiring a first-year student for its Access Your Future Service Internship at its Burnsville, Minnesota store. The paid internship is designed for a student enrolled in an approved Heavy Equipment Service, Diesel Technology, or technical service program, with a two-year internship period before graduation. Interns learn alongside experienced technicians and mentors, applying classroom learning to hands-on equipment maintenance, diagnostics, repair, and service work. The role provides experience with heavy construction machinery and shop tools and technology. The position pays $20–$24 per hour. Potential full-time employment after graduation may include company-paid tools, a $5,000 graduation sign-on bonus, and up to $20,000 in financial incentives.
Requirements
- Be enrolled in or attending an RDO Equipment Co.-approved Heavy Equipment Service, Diesel Technology, or technical service program.
- Be a first-year student prepared to work as an intern for two years before graduating.
- Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and a solid attendance record to remain eligible for program benefits.
- Have experience using mechanical tools and be willing to develop hands-on skills on the job.
- Have strong computer skills and a passion for excellent customer service.
- Have clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Have valid work authorization and be able to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
Responsibilities
- Learn to diagnose, inspect, recondition, repair, assemble, and service equipment alongside a skilled mentor.
- Perform basic maintenance and repairs and assist with diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- Document machine details and repair work on service orders, including parts and fluids used.
- Keep the workspace clean and organized and care for tools and machines.
- Learn to use advanced tools and technology in the shop.
