About The Position

NextGen Technologies, a low-voltage contractor, is seeking an Access Control Technician who takes pride in delivering excellent service and building professional relationships with colleagues and clients. The technician installs, terminates, configures, programs, tests, and troubleshoots access control, surveillance, CCTV, cabling, and related security systems. Work may be performed with or without direct supervision. Systems and products include S2 Access Control, Paxton, Speco Technologies, Sielox, Avigilon, Hanwha, Honeywell VISTA, DSC, and Qolsys.

Requirements

Two years of practical experience in access control and CCTV installation, low-voltage Cat5 and Cat6 voice and data cabling, fiber, and burglar and fire alarm systems.
Basic electrical knowledge, including measuring power and consumption and tracing circuits.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Clean driving record.
Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 100 pounds, work at heights above 10 feet, and work in confined areas.
High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Install, terminate, and configure surveillance and access control equipment, including card readers, request-to-exit devices, electrified door hardware, access control panels, analog and IP cameras, NVRs, power supplies, and cable pathway systems.
Install and terminate twisted-pair, low-voltage, coaxial, and other applicable cabling.
Program access control panels and systems.
Install and program CCTV systems, including analog and IP cameras.
Install and program NVRs and video management systems (VMS).
Test and troubleshoot network cable distance, power loads, AC/DC power, PoE, analog CCTV, access control, and burglar alarm systems.
Install cable pathway systems; install, terminate, test, label, and document horizontal, backbone, and other cables.
