About The Position

The Academic Tutor supports K–12 students in areas including Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Tutors are expected to be knowledgeable, experienced, professional, and able to make learning engaging while working with a high degree of autonomy. This is a part-time, in-person position running from August through June, with opportunities to work with students across grades K–12. Reading Specialist or Special Education experience is a plus.

Requirements

• Completed bachelor’s degree.
• At least two years of teaching or tutoring experience.
• Experience working with neurodiverse students.
• Fun, upbeat personality and strong interpersonal skills.
• Passion for teaching and learning.
• Strong time-management and organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively and compellingly.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel.
• Easy access to and proficiency with the Internet, email, and electronic communications.
• Excellent references.
• Must pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

• Reading Specialist or Special Education experience.
• Experience as an educational therapist or behavioral therapist.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to students’ academic levels.
• Establish academic goals and milestones with students.
• Document and communicate student progress reports.
• Provide a supportive and motivating environment for students’ academic growth.
• Keep the work and classroom environment organized and clean.
