Under the supervision of the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, and in coordination with the Office of Academic Services and Institutional Support (OASIS), the Academic Support Specialist will support DO program students in identifying and implementing effective study strategies, i.e. study skills, time management, test taking and related topics. The Academic Support Specialist collaborates with faculty and administrators to identify students who are experiencing academic challenges, then works directly with the students, evaluating their learning needs, and developing individualized study strategies and learning plans that are appropriate for the required DO program courses and exams, including licensing exams. The person will provide programming to all DO program students who wish to enhance their study skills (i.e. study skills, time management, test taking, and other related topics) and will serve as a resource for faculty, staff, administrators and students to determine how best to provide support for students who are struggling academically. This role will also include implementation and monitoring of a pathway program for students who struggle academically.
