About The Position

The Academic Advisor II provides educational guidance and assistance to an assigned portfolio of students within the Tulane School of Social Work (TSSW). The role recommends courses and determines appropriate education solutions, maintains current student enrollment and student records, and serves as a member of TSSW’s Academic Affairs Team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of relevant experience; OR a high school diploma or equivalent with 8 years of academic advising or closely related experience in an educational setting.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other positions and units within the University.
• Ability to make independent decisions related to student academic advising.
• Ability to work with confidential information protected under FERPA and other rules and regulations, and maintain confidentiality.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office or equivalent applications.
• Experience with a customer relationship management application such as Salesforce.
• Experience with a student information system database such as Banner.

Nice To Haves

• Advanced degree in a relevant field.
• Academic advising experience in higher education, including mentoring academic advising staff.
