Requirements

Knowledge of vehicle, equipment, hydraulic, electrical, fuel, emission, brake, drivetrain, and engine systems.
Ability to diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical issues.
Ability to safely operate diagnostic equipment, testing devices, welding equipment, and hand tools.
Ability to interpret technical manuals, service information, and repair documentation.
Working knowledge of fleet management and maintenance software systems.
High school diploma or GED with two (2) or more years of experience as an Automotive & Equipment Mechanic or equivalent experience with hands on experience working with heavy machinery.
Must successfully meet the minimum requirements of the Automotive & Equipment Mechanic assessment.
Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License within 89 days of hire.
Performs work in shop and field environments.
May be required to work in varying weather conditions and around energized, mechanical, and moving equipment.
Must be able to safely lift, climb, bend, and perform physical tasks associated with vehicle and equipment maintenance.

State of Michigan, Secretary of State | SOS - Mechanic Certification is preferred
National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification is preferred
Automotive Degree from Accredited School is preferred

Responsibilities

Inspecting, diagnosing, adjusting, troubleshooting, and repairing vehicle and equipment systems, including Hydraulic systems, Air conditioning systems, Brake systems, Fuel and emission systems, Drivetrain systems, starting systems, Charging systems, Electrical systems, Chassis systems, Engines and power plant systems, Alternative fuel systems.
Diagnosing vehicle and equipment malfunctions using a variety of diagnostic tools, software applications, and testing equipment.
Determining root causes of equipment failures and recommending appropriate corrective actions.
Performing minor repairs to booms, buckets, vehicle bodies, and other equipment components.
Conducting routine inspections of aerial devices, manlifts, and lifting equipment.
Completing material lift inspections in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
Performing non-structural welding using Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW/Stick) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG) processes.
Performing acetylene cutting, heating, and brazing activities as needed to support repairs and maintenance.
Accessing and utilizing fleet management systems, operating systems, and service information platforms to review repair information, document work performed, and maintain accurate service records.
Performing other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
