Requirements

High school diploma or GED
Two (2) or more years of experience as an Automotive & Equipment Mechanic or equivalent experience with hands-on experience working with heavy machinery.
Must successfully meet the minimum requirements of the Automotive & Equipment Mechanic assessment.
Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License within 89 days of hire.
Must be able to safely lift, climb, bend, and perform physical tasks associated with vehicle and equipment maintenance.

State of Michigan, Secretary of State | SOS - Mechanic Certification is preferred
National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification is preferred
Automotive Degree from Accredited School is preferred

Responsibilities

Inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a wide variety of vehicles, equipment, and related systems to ensure safe and reliable operation.
Performing advanced mechanical troubleshooting.
Conducting required inspections.
Completing non-structural welding and fabrication work.
Utilizing vehicle diagnostic and fleet management systems to support fleet operations.
Diagnosing vehicle and equipment malfunctions using a variety of diagnostic tools, software applications, and testing equipment.
Determining root causes of equipment failures and recommending appropriate corrective actions.
Performing minor repairs to booms, buckets, vehicle bodies, and other equipment components.
Conducting routine inspections of aerial devices, manlifts, and lifting equipment.
Completing material lift inspections in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
Performing non-structural welding using Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW/Stick) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG) processes.
Performing acetylene cutting, heating, and brazing activities as needed to support repairs and maintenance.
Accessing and utilizing fleet management systems, operating systems, and service information platforms to review repair information, document work performed, and maintain accurate service records.
Performing other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
