Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two (2) or more years of experience as an Automotive & Equipment Mechanic or equivalent experience with hands-on experience working with heavy machinery.
  • Must successfully meet the minimum requirements of the Automotive & Equipment Mechanic assessment.
  • Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License within 89 days of hire.
  • Must be able to safely lift, climb, bend, and perform physical tasks associated with vehicle and equipment maintenance.

Nice To Haves

  • State of Michigan, Secretary of State | SOS - Mechanic Certification is preferred
  • National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification is preferred
  • Automotive Degree from Accredited School is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a wide variety of vehicles, equipment, and related systems to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Performing advanced mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Conducting required inspections.
  • Completing non-structural welding and fabrication work.
  • Utilizing vehicle diagnostic and fleet management systems to support fleet operations.
  • Diagnosing vehicle and equipment malfunctions using a variety of diagnostic tools, software applications, and testing equipment.
  • Determining root causes of equipment failures and recommending appropriate corrective actions.
  • Performing minor repairs to booms, buckets, vehicle bodies, and other equipment components.
  • Conducting routine inspections of aerial devices, manlifts, and lifting equipment.
  • Completing material lift inspections in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Performing non-structural welding using Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW/Stick) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG) processes.
  • Performing acetylene cutting, heating, and brazing activities as needed to support repairs and maintenance.
  • Accessing and utilizing fleet management systems, operating systems, and service information platforms to review repair information, document work performed, and maintain accurate service records.
  • Performing other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
