4th Grade Teacher
About The Position
ACCEL Schools is hiring a 4th Grade Teacher at Northeast Ohio College Preparatory School - Lower Campus in Cleveland, Ohio. The teacher will deliver instruction that supports students’ academic and social-emotional development, create a positive classroom environment, and adapt instruction to meet individual student needs. Northeast Ohio College Preparatory School is a public charter school offering continuous EK-12 college-preparatory education. Its adjoining EK-8 and high school campuses are located in Cleveland’s Tremont neighborhood. The school is part of ACCEL Schools, a network of public charter schools serving students throughout the United States. The role involves preparing and delivering lessons, maintaining student progress records, applying research-based instructional practices, managing classroom behavior, communicating with families, using technology to support learning, and collaborating with colleagues. The teacher will also participate in non-instructional activities as needed and perform other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Active and current State of Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area.
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
- Comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment involving frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to properly manage confidential information.
- Ability to supervise students of various ages in settings such as playgrounds and cafeterias.
- Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks.
- Experience working in an urban environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver lesson plans, modifying them as appropriate during the school year.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
- Use research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom.
- Create a positive classroom environment that supports student learning.
- Use school-approved curricula that reflect students’ diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
- Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms.
- Communicate and meet with families about their child’s academic and social-emotional growth.
- Incorporate technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning.
- Participate in planning and implementing non-instructional activities as needed.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
