4th Grade Teacher
About The Position
ACCEL Schools is hiring a 4th Grade Teacher at STEAM Academy of Warrensville Heights in Warrensville Heights, Ohio. The role is for a passionate and dedicated educator who brings curriculum to life and creates a positive classroom environment that prioritizes student learning and social-emotional development. STEAM Academy of Warrensville Heights is an award-winning public charter school serving EK-8th grade students in the Heights communities. Founded in 2015, the school focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math and is part of ACCEL Schools, a network of public charter schools serving K-12 students across the United States. The teacher prepares and delivers instruction, differentiates learning for students, monitors and records student progress, manages classroom behavior, and communicates with families about students’ academic and social-emotional growth. The teacher also collaborates with colleagues and participates in non-instructional activities as needed.
Requirements
- Active and current Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area.
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
- Comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment based on frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to properly manage confidential information.
- Ability to supervise students of various ages in different school settings, including playgrounds and cafeterias.
- Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks.
- Experience working within an urban environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver lesson plans, modifying them as needed during the school year.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
- Use research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom.
- Create a positive classroom environment for student learning.
- Use school-approved curricula that reflect students’ diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
- Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms.
- Communicate and meet with families regarding their child’s academic and social-emotional growth.
- Incorporate technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning.
- Participate in planning and implementing non-instructional activities, as needed.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
