About The Position

The Teacher - Elementary (4th Grade) provides students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the assigned academic subject area to support their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth and help them develop competencies and skills for functioning successfully in society. The position works 184 days per year and reports to the Campus Principal. The teacher plans and delivers instruction aligned with district curriculum, Texas Education Agency guidelines, and applicable policies; assesses student learning; adapts instruction to student needs, including accommodations specified in Individual Education Plans; and uses technology to support teaching and learning. The role also includes managing the classroom, communicating with families and colleagues, participating in professional development and school activities, and maintaining required records.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements, or required training for the subject and level assigned.
Demonstrated competency in the assigned academic subject area.
Knowledge of the assigned academic subject.
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement lesson plans that meet district curriculum requirements and maintain written evidence of preparation as required.
Prepare lessons that accommodate differences in student learning styles.
Present subject matter in accordance with Texas Education Agency guidelines, board policies, and administrative regulations.
Select and use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment based on students’ learning styles and needs.
Assess student learning styles and use the results to plan instructional activities.
Work with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for students according to their Individual Education Plans.
Collaborate with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods consistent with district requirements.
Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers.
Use technology to strengthen the teaching and learning process.
Help students analyze and improve their study methods and habits.
Assess student achievement on an ongoing basis using formal and informal testing.
Take responsibility for assigned extracurricular activities and sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
Serve as a positive role model and support the school district’s mission.
Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students’ physical, social, and emotional development.
Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Maintain open communication through conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
Communicate information accurately and clearly.
Participate in staff development to improve job-related skills.
Stay informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
Compile, maintain, and file required physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents.
Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Perform other duties as assigned; responsibilities and assignments may be adjusted to meet district needs.
