About The Position

The 7th Floor Medical Surgical department at St. Anthony Hospital is a medical surgical unit where they primarily treat septic patients. This department has 36 beds and sees a range of surgical patients, ETOH withdrawal, cellulitis and treats many chronic conditions such as COPD and CHF. The department has a culture focused on teamwork and positivity, with high nurse communication scores. It is an innovative unit where hospital-wide projects often begin. They are looking for dynamic, hard-working people who are looking for a strong medical surgical floor and have a vested interest in the department’s mission. Candidates must have a positive attitude, open communication skills, be hard-working, dedicated, and accountable. St. Anthony Hospital is a Level I Trauma Center located in Lakewood, Colorado, providing a full range of medical specialties and health care services to Denver and the surrounding region. It features a state-of-the-art medical campus and is home base for Flight For Life Colorado. With four trauma rooms, including the T-10 room, and a dedicated field-to-surgery suite ready 24/7 for trauma surgeons and specially trained teams, the staff can provide life-saving care to the most severely ill and injured patients. In 2023, the hospital received Magnet designation. They have also received numerous other awards, certifications, and accreditations from organizations such as the American Heart Association, Chest Pain Center (CPC), American College of Cardiology, The Joint Commission, Emergency Nurses Association, NAPBC, and American College of Radiology. Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Nursing or by endorsement
  • One (1) year of clinical RN experience.
  • RN license to practice in state of employment as applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Actively support the department director/manager by coordinating clinical and department activities for the unit, serving as a vital clinical resource and professional role model.
  • Demonstrate strong clinical judgment, ensure high-quality care delivery, act as a crucial link between physicians and the patient care team, authorize work procedures, assign duties, manage as shift charge, and actively take patient assignments based on unit needs and acuity, all while promoting patient well-being and adhering to professional standards.
  • Assess patient’s physical, psychosocial, cultural and spiritual needs through observation, interview, review of medical records & clinical data.
  • Evaluate patient’s response and intervenes to ensure optimal patient outcome.
  • Develop and implement patient plan of care and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide leadership, support, and coordination of unit’s daily operations during designated shift.
  • Assist in directing, organizing, and prioritizing all shift activities ensuring patient care and staff needs are met.
  • Ensure appropriateness of admissions/cases to the unit/department and that appropriate staff skill mix exists to provide safe patient care.
  • Serve as a liaison to the multidisciplinary patient care team.
