About The Position

Part-time Registered Nurse positions are available for shifts between 2:45 PM and 11:15 PM, and 6:45 PM and 11:15 PM. These shifts occur most days of the week, including weekends and holidays. The role involves presenting as a role model, leading and shaping staff, effective communication, assessing resident care quality, managing nursing operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, providing supervision and support to nursing staff, following resident care plans, participating in policy development, staying current in the field, managing other departments in the absence of administrators, and actively participating in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) efforts. The role also emphasizes Trauma Informed Care and Compliance and Ethics.

Requirements

  • Registered professional nurse, licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Educated in rehabilitative and restorative nursing techniques.
  • Professional with integrity, an achiever, and a leader.
  • Basic computer knowledge required.
  • Criminal history background clearance: Act 169 and Act 13.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, OBRA, and state nursing home regulations preferred.
  • Computer care plan and scheduling preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Presents self as a role model to achieve the mission of Rest Haven-York.
  • Leads staff by setting high and positive standards, promoting a work community, and shaping staff to be future leaders through training, education, evaluation, and guidance.
  • Communicates effectively in both verbal (staff, physician, resident, and guests) and written prose (policy, procedure, Medicare/medical assistance form, chart, care plan, cardex, etc.).
  • Assesses quality of resident care through rounds, chart review, and inspection tours.
  • Manages and supervises the nursing operation for the nursing service, including scheduling, evaluating, counseling, and commending employees.
  • Ensures compliance with all established regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Provides supervision, support, consultation, and evaluation to nursing staff, and supervises N.A. trainees in the clinical setting.
  • Follows and promotes resident care as defined in the plan of care for each resident.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of clinical and administrative policies and standards of performance.
  • Remains current in the field by attending meetings, seminars, inservices, conferences, workshops, and/or higher education courses and by reading professional journals, newsletters, and bulletins.
  • Manages or makes decisions concerning other departments, their employees, and issues normally handled by others when sole RN in building and department heads & administrators are not present.
  • Recognizes and participates in QAPI efforts, including attending trainings, carrying out assigned roles and responsibilities, following policies and procedures, sharing ideas for improvement, communicating outcomes or barriers, and supporting QAPI initiatives through performance and practice.
  • Promotes a culture of safety, empowerment, and healing as part of Trauma Informed Care, protecting trauma survivors from re-traumatization.
  • Participates in annual compliance and ethics training, follows the code of conduct, and reports any compliance and ethics concerns.
