About The Position

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with an Associate’s degree.
• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Arizona, or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
• Valid driver license at the time of application and valid Arizona driver license at the time of appointment.
• Qualifying education and experience must be documented in the Education and Work Experience sections of the application.
• Ability to meet any applicable post-offer background screening, physical and/or drug screening, and immunization and/or TB screening requirements.
• Some positions may require a current Arizona Department of Public Safety Clearance Card to work with vulnerable adults and children; where required, it must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of nursing experience in an outpatient or inpatient clinical setting providing direct patient care.
• Experience in a public health, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), or government setting.
• Bilingual English/Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Provide general nursing care and direct patient care in assigned settings, including clinics, hospitals, mobile units, program events, and homes.
• Administer medications and treatments, including reproductive and sexual health services, STI/HIV treatments, and vaccinations or immunizations, according to clinician orders and standing orders.
• Observe, record, and report patients’ reactions, responses, and general condition.
• Perform clinical activities within the nursing scope of practice, including phlebotomy and laboratory procedures.
• Conduct utilization reviews and/or clinical quality assurance or improvement activities and prepare related reports.
• Consult with physicians, managers, or department heads about quality assurance and utilization management issues and recommend alternative solutions.
• Ensure nursing services meet standards of practice and division and department policies, procedures, and standing orders.
• Precept and teach nursing practices to students and assist with orientation and training of new personnel.
• Participate in community health programs, including outreach, child health conferences, school health programs, group instruction for parents or guardians, clinical services, and home care services.
• Participate in emergency preparedness exercises and serve as a core member of the clinical response team.
• Plan and participate in field research related to public health nursing.
