About The Position

This Pharmacy Intern I position at Aurora St. Lukes Medical Center involves preparing medications, interviewing patients for medication histories, and performing duties related to medication ordering, receipt, stocking, and inventory control, all under the supervision of a pharmacist. The role also includes clerical duties, interpreting and entering medication orders, and billing activities. There are opportunities for leadership positions, mock job/residency interviews, project work with leadership, and an Intern Development series. Requirements

  • Registration required. WI - State of Wisconsin registration
  • IL - Registered as a pharmacy technician
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited or approved program in Pharmacy.
  • No experience required.
  • Enrolled in the first or second year of a Doctor of Pharmacy degree program.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to details.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Effective multitasking and prioritization skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must demonstrate integrity, maturity, dependability, a positive attitude and enthusiasm.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares medications for dispensing
  • Interviews patients to obtain medication histories
  • Perform duties related to medication ordering, receipt, stocking, and inventory control
  • Performs clerical duties in the pharmacy to ensure efficient operations
  • Receives and interprets medication/prescription orders and enters them into the pharmacy computer system
  • Performs medication and prescription billing activities
  • Opportunity to hold site and/or system pharmacy intern leadership positions
  • Participation in mock job/residency interviews with CV review
  • Project opportunities to work with site and system leadership
  • Intern Development series to learn about various topics pertinent to professional development. Certification available upon completion
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures.
