About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.
• Current, unrestricted pharmacist license through the appropriate state board of pharmacy.
• Broad training and/or experience in business administration, sales, marketing, information technology, and retail or ambulatory pharmacy.
• Normally requires zero to three years of directly related and progressively responsible retail or ambulatory care pharmacy experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to work quickly and accurately under time and volume constraints.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to resolve patient issues quickly and creatively to improve customer satisfaction.
• Familiarity with pharmaceutical products, services, and drug interactions.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Good analytical skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, prepare, verify, and dispense medications in accordance with professional standards, facility procedures, and state and federal laws.
• Perform medication reconciliation when possible to support continuity of care after patient discharge.
• Provide excellent customer service and clinical care.
• Counsel patients on medications and supplies, including dosage, frequency, special requirements, and possible drug interactions; answer questions about medication therapy.
• Review and evaluate patient care plans for therapeutic appropriateness.
• Support ambulatory pharmacy business goals and metrics, including marketing events and promotions.
• Assist with fiscal management to optimize profits and control expenses, in consultation with relevant managers and directors.
• Assist with hiring, training, termination, and performance management of pharmacy technicians.
• Monitor pharmacy staff performance to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational policies, practices, and dispensing processes.
• Maintain and execute procedures for quality improvement, quality assurance, controlled-substance security, and record keeping.
• Submit, review, and handle adjudicated prescription claims; ensure appropriate reimbursement and co-pay amounts and follow up on inappropriate claims.
• Establish, supervise, and maintain pricing tables and related pricing structures as needed.
• Recommend operating-procedure improvements and ways to facilitate patient care.
• Provide prescription verification and technical guidance to pharmacy technicians.
• Respond to escalated patient inquiries and issues, and follow through to resolve outstanding concerns.
• Provide consultation on pharmacy and therapeutic matters to organizational personnel.
• Assist with daily reporting and pharmacy technician work-hour scheduling, adjusting schedules as needed to maintain patient care.
• Supervise patient-profile and patient-contact activities, ensuring updates for insurance verification and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in departmental meetings and in-service training for pharmacy technicians.
• Collaborate with organizational personnel on quality, satisfaction, service excellence, and clinical care.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
