About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
• Current pharmacy license in the state of practice.
• Computer skills and dexterity for entering and retrieving patient information.
• Proficiency with Windows-style applications, role-specific software packages, and keyboard use.
• Skills necessary to compound pharmaceuticals and operate technical equipment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly and professionally to individuals at varying levels.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Able to meet the physical demands of the role, including frequently exerting 10 to 20 pounds of force and occasionally exerting up to 100 pounds; stooping, bending, reaching, grabbing, and manual dexterity.
• Able to work a flexible schedule, including possible 24/7 coverage, weekends, holidays, and on-call availability.
• Able to travel throughout and between facilities as work requires.
• Work may involve patients with known or suspected communicable diseases, isolation rooms, and potential occupational exposure to hazardous medications and hazardous waste.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate physician orders using a clinical assessment that includes factors such as allergies, age, renal function, concomitant drug therapy, laboratory values, dosing guidelines, protocols, diagnosis, and physical clinical status.
• Ensure safe and accurate preparation and dispensing of medications, including sterile products and investigational drugs, as measured through quality assurance, medication occurrence reporting, competency assessment, and other documentation.
• Manage drug therapy to optimize patient outcomes through intervention documentation, adverse drug reaction assessment, chart reviews, target drug reviews, patient education, and drug information.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge, licensure, and certifications through continuing education.
• Manage pharmacy operations in compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Adapt behavior and communication to the patient population, including respecting privacy, introducing oneself appropriately, explaining services or procedures, requesting permission, and adapting communication style.
• Perform other related duties as required.
• Immediately report known or suspected unethical or questionable behavior, patient or employee safety concerns, patient privacy concerns, and other compliance-related concerns.
