About The Position

This role is for an entry-level paralegal on the Litigation team at MoFo, based in San Diego. It is ideal for recent graduates considering law school who want to gain real-world experience in high-stakes litigation. The position involves working closely with attorneys, digging into complex matters, and developing skills beyond the classroom. The role requires intellectual curiosity, the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment of at least two years before pursuing law school or other endeavors. The paralegal will build foundational knowledge of litigation procedures, develop proficiency with legal technology and firm systems, and follow established procedures to deliver high-quality work. They will also learn to identify resources for efficiency, manage workflow, documents, and deadlines, and collaborate with attorneys and staff to resolve issues. Responsibilities include assisting in all phases of litigation, coordinating case documents and electronic discovery, supporting court filings and depositions, contributing to research and trial preparation, and assisting Senior Paralegals. Proactive client engagement and communication are also key. Research will be conducted using approved tools and platforms, and client-generated materials will be reviewed, analyzed, and summarized. An interest in product liability is a plus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with a strong academic record.
  • Ability to work efficiently under direct supervision while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated sense of accountability, with the ability to take ownership of assignments from start to finish.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in written and organizational work.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt quickly as priorities shift.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with attorneys and team members.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and travel as needed to meet business and client demands.
  • Commitment to at least two years before law school or other pursuits.

Responsibilities

  • Build foundational knowledge of litigation procedures while developing proficiency with legal technology and firm systems.
  • Follow established procedures and instructions to deliver high-quality work, while learning to identify resources that improve efficiency.
  • Apply strong organizational skills to manage workflow, documents, and deadlines across matters, teams, and departments.
  • Identify issues as they arise and collaborate with attorneys and staff to help resolve problems effectively.
  • Assist in all phases of litigation—from case inception through trial or resolution—including document collection, review, and production.
  • Coordinate case documents and electronic discovery, working closely with the firm’s eDiscovery Resource Management team.
  • Support court filings and depositions by proofreading, cite-checking, Bluebook verification, preparing exhibits, subpoenas, and summaries.
  • Contribute to factual and legal research, witness and evidence tracking, and trial preparation and logistics, including attending trial as needed.
  • Assist Senior Paralegals with research heavy-tasks and overall case support.
  • Proactive client engagement, communication, and relationship management with client contracts.
  • Research to be conducted using tools, platforms, and databases approved or provided by the client.
  • Review, analysis, and summarization of client-generated materials.
