About The Position

This internship position provides the student with a well-rounded experience by introducing the intern to many different programming areas and duties. Interns will be exposed to program development, implementation, marketing, administrative duties, general duties of operating facilities, and maintenance. Work sites will include Recreation Office, Ice Center, Racket Center and Golf Course and Parks. This internship will provide the student with a hands-on learning experience while fulfilling the internship standards of the student’s university.

Requirements

  • Clear understanding of recreational department activities and procedures.
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with athletics including league scheduling
  • Familiarity with standard maintenance practices.
  • Availability to work evenings/weekends as necessary.
  • Related course work at an accredited college or university.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with recreational facilities and programming is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Complete daily opening and closing procedures using department software.
  • Complete program registrations for walk-ins and full session participants.
  • Assist with planning and implementing weekly and monthly programs such as Adult Exercise classes, Art Factory, Sporties for Shorties, Lunch Bunch, and Soccer.
  • Assist with Father Son Campout and Pumpkin Patch Parade special events as assigned.
  • Assist with implementing basketball program to include coordination of volunteer coaches including maintaining and tracking clearances, making up teams, coaches meetings and draft, and generating weekly practice and game schedules.
  • Assist with set up and tear down room rentals as needed.
  • Assist with facility maintenance projects as needed such as Bubble Up and Pool Closure.
  • Performs all other work as assigned.

Benefits

  • Reimbursement for the cost of clearances ($60.25) if employed for at least one month.
