As a WIC Nutritionist, you’ll empower participants with the knowledge and support they need to make healthy choices for themselves and their children.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or a related field (advanced degree or dietetic internship may substitute for experience)
- Strong computer and data entry skills
- Excellent communication—both one-on-one and in group settings
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity to diverse populations
- Ability to educate, motivate, and connect with families
Nice To Haves
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in a healthcare or community setting
- Bilingual skills
- Lactation Consultant certification
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments and identify participant needs
- Provide personalized nutrition education, counseling, and breastfeeding support
- Help families set and achieve realistic health and nutrition goals
- Tailor WIC food packages based on individual needs and guidelines
- Ensure accurate certification and compliance with program standards
- Collaborate with healthcare and social service providers through referrals
- Maintain accurate documentation using the CT-WIC system
- Promote breastfeeding as the preferred infant feeding method
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities
