This New Graduate RN Residency program, specifically for the Surgical Step Down (IMCU) Department, is designed to assist newly licensed nurses in their transition to practice. The program, starting September 9, 2026, incorporates the Nurse of the Future Nursing Core Competencies and aims to reduce turnover, improve critical thinking, clinical decision-making skills, patient outcomes, and nurse satisfaction. New graduate nurses are hired in cohorts, undergo a four-month training period, and then assume a position on a Step Down unit, with a requested two-year commitment following the residency.
