The Delivery Room is a multi-bed unit that provides safe, high-quality care for mothers and newborns during labor, delivery, and immediate recovery. A skilled team works collaboratively to ensure patient safety and a supportive, family-centered birth experience, with the ability to respond quickly to complications. The Nursing Assistant (NA) works with the Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide patient care. They perform tasks assigned by the RN/LPN, including basic hands-on care and helping care for acutely ill patients. The NA supports both direct patient care and unit coordination, while maintaining a clean, safe, and well-stocked environment. They follow infection control practices, respect patient privacy and cultural differences, and respond appropriately in emergencies. The role also includes documenting care in the electronic health record, completing basic clerical tasks, and maintaining clear communication with the care team. NAs are expected to follow all policies, maintain required skills, and perform duties within the NC Board of Nursing scope (NCA I & II), working NCA II shifts at least 75% of the time.
