About The Position

Requirements

• Active Florida State License in Nuclear Medicine, maintained in good standing throughout employment.
• ARRT (NM) or CNMT certification.
• American Heart Association BLS, maintained active and in good standing throughout employment.
• Degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology from an accredited school.
• Basic knowledge of computers and printers, or ability to learn appropriate software applications.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with other departments.
• Ability to relate cooperatively and constructively with patients, families, and coworkers.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Ability to problem-solve and adapt standard clinical procedures to individual client needs.
• Ability to interpret, adapt, and react calmly under stressful conditions.

• One year of experience as a pediatric nuclear medicine technologist.

Responsibilities

• Measure radioactive dosage prescriptions according to policy and record and monitor the use of every radioactive isotope.
• Apply knowledge of growth and development in interactions and treatment, support service excellence for patients and families, and implement strategies to improve service scores.
• Comply with applicable safety, risk-management, infection-control, and radiation-safety standards.
• Coordinate patient scheduling, transportation, preparation, and scanning to maximize PET scanner utilization and minimize rescheduling.
• Perform nuclear medicine examinations according to the Radiologist’s protocol and produce high-quality images.
• Explain examinations and procedures to patients and parents, review patient history and prior scans with the designated Radiologist, and verify that the correct examination has been ordered.
• Enter and transmit patient information and completed images to PACS promptly.
• Use two patient identifiers and follow hospital patient-identification policy before examinations.
• Maintain accurate and timely scan records and ensure scanning and dosage accuracy.
• Adjust equipment and technique and arrange positioning, immobilization, and support devices as needed.
• Communicate with the Radiologist to obtain prompt review of images after examinations.
• Survey incoming radioactive-isotope medication, wipe materials, and dispose of isotopes according to policy.
• Assist with supply ordering, monitor inventory, and maintain clean equipment and scan rooms.
• Answer the nuclear medicine departmental phone and resolve problems as needed.
• Report equipment problems or malfunctions to clinical engineering or a supervisor and assist with problem-solving.
• Maintain required licenses, certifications, competencies, health requirements, education, and timekeeping records.
• Meet communication standards and targeted service scores.
