About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Network Engineer, Journeyman to join our team in the greater DMV area, supporting the Army National Guard. This role involves designing, deploying, and sustaining enterprise network infrastructure, executing WAN and LAN upgrades, monitoring network devices and services, managing network circuit lifecycles, assessing site readiness, collaborating with architects and operations teams, and documenting configurations and technical activities to support governance, audit readiness, and sustained performance. The position also supports configuration management, change/release processes, and evidence collection for accreditation and compliance.

Requirements

  • 2 years with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA; 6 years with HS Diploma/equivalent
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or Software Engineering; OR Relevant DoD/military training (example: Research & Development Specialist (Intermediate) Playlist); OR Relevant professional certification or equivalent experience (example: CompTIA Security+).
  • Network engineering, NOC, or systems administration experience supporting enterprise networks.
  • Practical hands‑on experience with routing/switching, firewall/VPN configuration, load balancing, and circuit provisioning.
  • Proficiency with network monitoring/observability tools, vulnerability scanning basics, and ticketing/configuration management systems.
  • Ability to perform network troubleshooting, document root‑cause analysis, and produce operational runbooks and change records.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills for cross‑team engineering and fielding activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior DoD/ARNG/NETCOM experience supporting multi‑domain (NIPR/SIPR/cloud) networks.
  • Experience with SD‑WAN, automation/orchestration, and scripting for operational tasks (PowerShell, Python).

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and sustain enterprise network infrastructure: routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, load balancers, and related network services.
  • Execute WAN and LAN upgrades to improve throughput, latency, reliability, and interoperability with existing and planned architectures.
  • Monitor network devices, WAN links, VPN services, and security integrations; detect incidents and performance issues and perform troubleshooting and restoration.
  • Manage network circuit lifecycle activities: provisioning, maintenance, testing, and disconnects per enterprise standards.
  • Assess site readiness for hardware deployments by evaluating connectivity, capacity, and environmental constraints.
  • Collaborate with architects and operations teams to support network design, implementation, and sustainment decisions.
  • Document configurations, changes, and technical activities to support governance, audit readiness, and sustained performance.
  • Support configuration management, change/release processes, and evidence collection for accreditation and compliance.
