About The Position
Aecon Engineering Services Inc. (United), now part of Aecon Group Inc., is seeking an enthusiastic Supervising Mechanical Engineer with experience supporting Nuclear Power Projects in their Charlotte, NC office. This role involves managing the mechanical engineering and design efforts on major power projects from conception through construction and final project closeout. Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the design of mechanical systems for conventional generation (fossil fueled) power plants.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an engineering leadership position.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university.
- Experience with industry standard engineering software such as AFT Fathom and AFT Arrow.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with multi-discipline engineers and designers.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license in US.
- U.S. citizenship required due to access to nuclear facilities and information governed by U.S. federal regulations.
Nice To Haves
- M.S. in Mechanical Engineering is an asset.
- Experience in HVAC and Fire Protection design is an asset.
- Experience with Autodesk Plant3D is an asset.
Responsibilities
- Functioning as the mechanical discipline lead on a project.
- Acting as the mechanical engineer of record for assigned projects, using professional engineering license to sign and seal mechanical drawings developed under supervision.
- Developing mechanical calculations, reports, studies, specifications, and design drawings (equipment arrangement, PFD, AFD, P&IDs, isometric drawings) for water, steam, air, gas, oil systems.
- Coordinating interdisciplinary teams of engineers and designers to complete project tasks on schedule and on budget.
- Reviewing relevant codes, design documents, specifications, and construction documents to support project development.
- Developing material and workhour estimates, as well as engineering and design schedules.
