About The Position

This role involves handling and arranging various styles of inserts that receive physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating in heats to ensure all critical areas are coated for a quality product. The operator will also visually inspect PVD coated inserts.

Requirements

  • Commitment to working safely and understand all safety procedures.
  • Follow green insert control plan, assuring product is processed according to proper routings, specifications and the quantity and style are correct.
  • Work to meet daily departmental production goals.
  • Communicate safety, quality and product issues with supervisor, team members and across shifts.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Safety glasses with side-shields required.
  • Safety Shoes are required.
  • Gloves, cut resistant gloves when necessary.
  • Approximately eight hours standing with two break opportunities per eight-hour work period OR 3 breaks for per 12 hour work period.
  • Intermittent walking, reaching, sitting and bending.
  • Lifting insert trays weighing no more than thirty-three (33) pounds.
  • Run orders by due date.
  • Follow control plan.
  • Assignments and instructions communicated orally and carried out by standing guidelines.
  • Problems solved by consulting co-workers and supervisor.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-year technical degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Build heats for PVD furnaces.
  • Place inserts in appropriate predetermined fixturing according to process.
  • Perform quality inspection and quantity verification of incoming product prior to coating.
  • Originate documentation to accompany heats through the Coating Focused Factory.
  • Visually inspect coated carbide inserts with unaided eye and microscope.
  • Verify product and style match route card.
  • Accurately record necessary information.
  • Transfer inserts to next work center.
  • Conduct daily housekeeping of work area and pass on pertinent information to oncoming shifts.
  • Operate other equipment as needed.
