About The Position
Are you looking for a summer job? Do you enjoy working outdoors? If yes, we have an opportunity for you! The Ohio Department of Transportation, District 2, is now accepting applications for Summer Laborers for the following counties: Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca, Wood, Lucas, Henry, Fulton, Defiance, Williams and Northwood Outpost. These are seasonal temporary positions with an anticipated start date of May 4, 2026, and end date of September 4, 2026. There are multiple positions, your application will be considered for all positions.
Requirements
- Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, multiplication & division.
- In accordance with Section 124.11 (B)(2) of Revised Code, Director of Administrative Services has determined this classification to be unskilled labor class & therefore exempt from written examination.
- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
Responsibilities
- Flag/traffic control for highway maintenance
- Drive pickup truck to set out/pick up signs & follow mowing crew
- Roadside litter pickup, clean &/or wash vehicles & equipment
- Clean/hose down garage areas
- Use weed eater to trim around buildings, fences, etc.
- Help clean up roadsides when work crews are cutting brush/tree trimming
- Answer phone &/or radio when clerk is unavailable
