The Laborer performs a variety of tasks related to traffic control, pothole patching, roadside clean-up, and works with basin, tree, and pavement repair crews. This role also involves winter operations such as salting and plowing. The position requires operating a vehicle (with or without trailer) greater than 26,000 lbs. GVWR, and includes servicing and maintaining equipment. Depending on experience, the role may involve operating various pieces of equipment like a chipper, chainsaw, tractor, or heavy equipment such as a shoulder maintainer, grader, and loader. The Laborer must work collaboratively in the safest method to complete daily tasks and perform all duties in a citizen-service oriented manner, adhering to all safety and Board policies, regulations, or procedures, including pre and post-trip vehicle and equipment inspections. This position is within a bargaining unit and the individual that holds this position is subject to the terms and conditions of the existing collective bargaining agreement.
