About The Position
The Instrument Fitter Helper assists Foremen and Journeymen Fitters with installing instrumentation and related components in an industrial construction environment. The role includes assembling and installing control panels, instruments, sensing devices, supports, and small-bore piping and tubing. The helper performs assigned work safely, accurately, and efficiently, and maintains tools, equipment, and a clean work area. The position typically requires at least six months of industrial construction experience.
Requirements
- Typically, at least six months of industrial construction experience.
- Ability to work in a construction environment involving extensive walking and climbing, confined spaces, and elevated work areas.
- Ability to lift tools and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Follow established company policies and procedures, with particular attention to safety regulations.
- Perform work as directed by Foremen and Journeymen Fitters.
- Assist with assembling, mounting, and installing control panels, instruments, and associated sensing devices that measure, indicate, transmit, record, and control.
- Assemble and install instrument stands, brackets, trays, clamps, and hangers to secure instrumentation and associated components.
- Measure, cut, thread, and install small-bore piping typically used in pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Assist with bending and installing tubing.
- Perform pressure testing of installed tubing and small-bore pipe as required to prove system integrity.
- Work promptly and accurately according to instructions, while maintaining an orderly and clean work area.
- Perform regular maintenance and cleaning of tools, equipment, and installed and pre-installed instrumentation.
