About The Position

The Material Handler - Equipment Operator may fulfill multiple roles in the Distribution Center environment to help fulfill overall mission to process Inbound and/or Outbound freight accurately, timely, and safely. This role utilizes manual and/or powered industrial equipment to load and unload inventory, and to fulfill shipping and receiving orders. The position also involves completing periodic safety training, performing routine equipment inspections, and documenting production logs accurately. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team
  • Basic math proficiency for certain roles
  • Good record-keeping skills with attention to details
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • 2-4 years of prior use of manual and/or powered industrial equipment
  • Basic warehouse and/or Distribution Center knowledge
  • Demonstrated success working in a production environment

Nice To Haves

  • High school education or equivalency preferred
  • Reach Truck or Order Picker Equipment Certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes manual and/or powered industrial equipment to load and unload inventory.
  • Utilizes material handling equipment (reach truck and/or order picker/cherry picker) to fulfill shipping and receiving orders.
  • Completes periodic safety training on the operation of machinery.
  • Performs routine inspections of equipment and notifies leader of maintenance needs.
  • May perform one or more of a variety of functions in a Distribution Center environment associated with fulfilling orders for retail stores and/or other Distribution Centers. Potential work assignments include Receiving, Labeling, Putaway, Order Picking, Slotting, Replenishment, eComm order fulfillment, Hybrid throwing, Loading, and other “specialty” roles that require additional training/experience (e.g., Inventory Control).
  • Documents production log appropriately to include changes in assignments, downtime, meetings, etc. to ensure productivity records are accurate.
