About The Position

Under the direction of the Audiologist, performs newborn hearing screenings with the Pediatric Hearing Program for infants at all normal, special care, and intensive care nurseries at Shands Jacksonville and provides information to families and medical staff under the direction of the audiologist.

Requirements

  • 1-year Pediatric experience as an MA, CNA, or EMT preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Training - Medical Assistant - preferred
  • Graduation from approved EMT military Emergency Medical Technician school may be substituted.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hearing screens at the normal newborn, special care, and intensive care nursery at Shands Jacksonville which are reviewed by the audiologist.
  • Assist in maintenance of testing and evaluation equipment.
  • Based on screening results, schedules follow-up appointments, provides information to families and medical staff using criteria established by the audiologist.
  • Participate in ongoing staff training as required by employer, program and State of Florida licensure requirements.
