About The Position

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) has an opportunity for a motivated Entry Level Electrical Designer within our Digital Delivery and Transit Production group. You will join our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which supports transit rail, train control, communication, and electrical systems, and serves as a leading-edge division delivering best‑in‑class technical expertise for design‑build infrastructure projects nationwide. Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering seamlessly transitions solutions from design to construction through the collaborative efforts of Design Engineering, Design Management, Proposals, Estimating, and Integrated Project Controls. Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in computer-aided design, 3D modeling, drafting, survey or similar program experience
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in computer-aided design, modeling or drafting field or experience.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation (2D & 3D).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Use MicroStation, AutoCAD, PromisE, Bentley Raceway and Cable Manager and other electrical engineering design software.
  • General knowledge of engineering principles and materials for electrical engineering work
  • Ability to comprehend electrical engineering drawings.
  • Capable of recognizing discrepancies with strong attention to detail.
  • Critical thinking skills are necessary with the ability to plan and conceptualize.
  • The ability to clearly communicate and collaborate with team members.

  • Work productively and meet deadlines timely
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
  • May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.

Responsibilities

  • In office work primarily
  • Work with engineering teams in developing preliminary and final design plans and details for transit rail.
  • Participate in design reviews to evaluate design concepts and make recommendations.
  • Use MicroStation, AutoCAD, PromisE, Bentley Raceway and Cable Manager and other electrical engineering design software.
  • Produce documents with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Follow various Transit Design Standards and work with companies’ CAD Standards when applicable.
  • Produce electrical engineering plan sets, wiring schematics, equipment layout drawings, project schedules, and cost estimates for transportation systems.
  • May assist in co-leading 1-2 designers on various tasks and projects.
  • Participate and assist with the development of team software training materials.
