About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field; education, training, and relevant experience may be combined.
• At least 5 years of estimating or other relevant experience in closing construction estimates.
• Advanced knowledge of the assigned discipline, construction technology, estimating techniques, and cost control.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and/or engineering design drawings.
• Ability to perform arithmetic calculations required for estimating.
• Ability to identify and meet customer needs, expectations, and requirements.
• Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
• Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
• Oral and written communication skills appropriate to the position.
• Self-motivated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to interact effectively and professionally with employees at all levels, vendors, clients, and others.

• Advanced experience with Accubid estimating software, LiveCount Cloud, and Bluebeam software.

Responsibilities

• Establish project objectives, procedures, and deliverables; prepare estimates from quantity take-offs through computer printout.
• Identify key parts of projects that affect estimate competitiveness and evaluate potential value-engineering cost savings.
• Review proposal specifications and drawings and attend pre-bid meetings to determine the scope of work and estimate requirements.
• Guide personnel preparing the completion matrix discipline for assigned bids.
• Maintain working documents and data that support estimate figures.
• Develop labor productivity rates and installation unit costs, where applicable, based on projected site conditions and historical data.
• Prepare detailed lists of materials and equipment required for estimates, including quantities, types, and relevant specifications or standards.
• Identify qualified suppliers and subcontractors, solicit quotes, and review quotes for completeness and conformance with plans and specifications.
• Complete client-required documents on time.
• Prepare scope-letter inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications for estimates.
• Provide the Chief Estimator with a detailed review of the scope, technical requirements, and pricing for the estimated bid package.
• After a successful bid, meet with the project management team at turnover to explain the job scope, areas requiring attention, and other details needed for a successful transition.
• Maintain files of working documents that support estimate figures and update the Rosendin-approved estimating program.
• Mentor and assist with the development of Estimators.
• Estimate all types of projects and coordinate and supervise group work efforts.
