About The Position

Thyme Care is seeking a Coding Specialist to join their team. This role focuses on Risk Adjustment coding, Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI), and regulatory compliance. The specialist will support accurate clinical documentation, identify coding opportunities, and ensure adherence to industry and regulatory standards. The position reports to the Director of Practice Operations and is a remote, part-time role within the lower 48 United States.

Requirements

  • CPC-certified
  • Experience in risk adjustment coding
  • Experience in clinical documentation improvement (CDI)
  • Skilled in juggling multiple tasks and working under pressure without sacrificing organization in communications and documentation.
  • Effective listener and communicator
  • Comfort with ambiguity
  • Desire to learn how to use new technologies (video chatting, Google Suite, Slack, electronic health records, or comfort in using and learning new technology is vital).
  • Ability to identify priorities and take action
  • Must be located within the lower 48 United States due to contractual limitations with accessing PHI.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with oncology coding is strongly preferred
  • Additional certifications such as CRC or CDEO are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of medical records to validate the accuracy and completeness of ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding, CPT procedure coding, and supporting clinical documentation.
  • Identify documentation gaps and risk adjustment coding opportunities to support accurate capture of patient complexity and disease burden.
  • Provide timely feedback to providers on documentation gaps and coding opportunities identified through chart reviews.
  • Educate providers on documentation best practices and risk adjustment requirements.
  • Identify and communicate documentation trends to support ongoing improvement.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable coding, documentation, and risk adjustment guidelines.
  • Stay current on regulatory and industry changes affecting coding and documentation practices.
  • Support coding quality reviews and audit activities as needed.
