About The Position

The Child Life Specialist provides psychosocial and developmentally based assessments and support for patients and their families. As an active member of the interdisciplinary care team based at NYP/Westchester, the specialist contributes to patient care through participation, documentation, and communication of care plans and treatment goals. Child Life Specialists collaborate with nurses, social workers, and clinical professionals to help create a normalized healthcare environment for young patients, including by providing age-appropriate activities and diversions.

Requirements

  • Complete Child Life Council-verified internship hours, with a minimum of 480 hours.
  • Be a Certified Child Life Specialist by the Child Life Council.
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development, or a closely related field.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience with hospitalized children.
