About The Position

This full-time position in Internal Medicine involves providing comprehensive patient care, including patient education, intake and documentation, performing CLIA-waived lab tests, administering diagnostic tests, assisting healthcare providers, managing vaccine programs (VFC and adult), handling medication prior authorizations and injections, managing medical supplies, reporting incidents, processing EHR clinical in-box items, and aiding in the overall office function. The role requires serving all age groups and diverse populations, with potential exposure to infectious diseases and unpredictable situations. It involves considerable patient lifting, prolonged standing, and requires good manual dexterity, visual, auditory, and tactile senses.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with at least an AS in Nursing.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in Idaho or possess a compact state license.
  • Active BLS certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates of Science in Nursing (ASN) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide age-appropriate patient/family/caregiver teaching adapted for individual learning needs.
  • Prepare exam rooms, assist patients, prepare patients for assessments, document clinical intake, monitor, and document interventions and care outcomes.
  • Perform clinic-based CLIA-waived lab testing, including venipuncture and capillary blood drawings, in compliance with regulations and quality assurance.
  • Perform in-office diagnostic tests such as EKGs, vision and hearing screenings.
  • Assist healthcare providers during exams and procedures, and potentially act as a medical scribe.
  • Understand and follow VFC program requirements, screen patients for immunizations, and administer childhood vaccines.
  • Administer adult vaccines according to CDC recommendations and other resources.
  • Perform medication prior authorizations with patient insurance companies.
  • Administer subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intradermal injections.
  • Scan/order medical supplies, monitor inventory, and identify supplies that improve safety and quality of care.
  • Report variances, near misses, or patient complaints using online incident reporting software.
  • Process incoming and outgoing electronic documents in the EHR clinical in-box, including patient cases, medical records, refill requests, and consult notes.
  • Monitor the front office area and waiting room for safety, security, privacy, and patient concerns, and respond to emergencies.
  • Relay necessary non-urgent information to team leads and/or director.
