About The Position

Generate accurate and timely registry data as part of the Registry Services unit of Health Information Management. Customers served include HIM department, Cancer Program Manager, Cancer Registrars, Physicians, Physician offices, Administration and accrediting agencies. Provide complete registry data and information for Tumor, Congenital Anomaly, Stroke, Orthopedic, and Occupational Lung Registries.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in RHIT or associated degree in another allied health field.
  • Two years’ experience in a disease-based registry.
  • Clinical chart review and abstraction experience.
  • Microsoft Word and Excel experience.
  • Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) Credential: Candidates must meet the education and experience prerequisites in order to sit for the 250-question exam. This includes NCRA accredited associates degree, or an NCRA accredited certificate with an associate’s degree, and completion of a 160 hour practicum at a cancer registry. Alternatively candidates may have a minimum of an associate’s degree with two semesters of course work in human anatomy, plus 1,950 hours or more of cancer registry work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Five years’ experience in Cancer Registry, Trauma Registry, Stroke, Orthopedic, or Bariatric Registry.
  • Statistical knowledge.
  • Database, data entry, and/or database management experience.
  • Minimum one year experience in a hospital surgery department or surgery clinic or with clinical research or medical records
  • RHIA, RHIT, LPN, LVN, RN or BSN.
