About The Position

The Youth Basketball Instructor assists with youth basketball programs and activities, helping participants of all ages and ability levels develop skills while promoting sportsmanship and teamwork in a safe, supportive environment. The role may include coaching teams, leading training sessions and clinics, supervising open gym activities, and supporting games and events. The instructor helps create a fun, welcoming, and inclusive experience for participants and families while contributing to youth development and community impact.

Requirements

• Experience engaging and working with youth of varying ages.
• Positive attitude with strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends during volleyball seasons.
• Dependable, energetic, and committed to creating a positive experience for participants and families.

Nice To Haves

• Some basketball playing and/or coaching experience is preferred; basic knowledge of the sport is needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist with or coach youth basketball teams.
• Help lead basketball training sessions and skill clinics.
• Supervise or assist with open gym activities.
• Operate scoreboards during games and events.
• Encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, and skill development.
• Support YMCA staff in creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all participants.
