Youth Program Leader - Marina Del Rey - Specific Skills Needed
About The Position
Arc Experience is hiring a part-time, non-exempt Youth Program Leader for its after-school program at Goethe International Charter School in Los Angeles. Program Leaders work directly with students, supporting social-emotional learning, homework, enrichment, and recreation. They help make learning enjoyable, build students’ confidence, and create positive after-school experiences. The position reports to the Site Coordinator of the school site and is scheduled Monday through Friday, generally from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., with one minimum day running approximately 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., depending on the school.
Requirements
- At least one year of experience working in after-school programs or youth recreation, especially in ethnically and culturally diverse communities.
- Good communication skills and comfort communicating with both children and parents.
- College transcripts showing at least 48 completed college credit units, or passing an academic proficiency exam.
- Obtain a TB test and provide proof of a negative result.
- Pass a Live Scan background check.
- Reliably commute before starting work.
- Work Monday through Friday, generally 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.; one day is a minimum day, approximately 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., depending on the school.
- Provide documentation of full COVID-19 vaccination if required by the school where assigned.
Nice To Haves
- English-Spanish bilingual ability.
- Skill in one or more of the following: German tutoring, acting/theatre, dance, music (guitar or drums), martial arts (such as jujitsu or judo), chess, or art.
Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome students to the program at the end of the school day.
- Organize and lead homework help, recreation games, arts and crafts, and educational projects.
- Participate in indoor and outdoor enrichment activities.
- Create unique clubs for students, such as career readiness, cooking, anime, or dance clubs.
- Follow safety protocols, monitor student behavior, and manage group dynamics to maintain a secure environment.
- Oversee students’ safety and well-being during after-school activities.
- Encourage participation and enthusiasm, adapting activities to students’ diverse needs and interests.
