Youth Counselor -(Overnight)
About The Position
CHOR Youth & Family Services is hiring Youth Counselors for its CHOR-YFS STLP Germantown residential treatment facility in Germantown, Pennsylvania. Counselors provide supervision, guidance, mentoring, and direction to adolescent male residents. The facility delivers responsive, innovative, treatment-oriented care through a multidisciplinary approach that integrates counseling, education, recreation, and life-skills instruction. The role supports residents’ safety and development, works collaboratively with clinical staff and a case manager on behavioral goals, and documents progress in electronic health records and reports. Counselors receive training in the organization’s structured program policies and procedures. The position is full-time, pays $19.00 per hour, and requires availability for all shifts.
Requirements
- An associate degree or bachelor’s degree in a human-services-related field, or a high school diploma or equivalent plus at least two years of experience working with youth.
- Basic computer skills.
- Pass criminal history clearances, including FBI clearance, and child abuse history clearances.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Be available for all shifts.
Responsibilities
- Use counseling, communication, and parenting skills to build trusting, supportive relationships with residents.
- Maintain the safety and security of residents and the facility.
- Actively supervise residents during academic instruction, recreational activities, community activities, and time in facility common areas.
- Collaborate with clinical staff and the case manager to create residential behavioral goals.
- Create and maintain electronic health records and reports documenting residents’ progress toward behavioral goals.
- Complete training in accordance with structured program policies and procedures.
