About The Position

Beloit Health System is looking for a Youth Apprentice to join our Team! This Per Diem Youth Apprenticeship - Medical Laboratory Assistant is a Per Diem at Beloit Health System located in Beloit, WI. The Youth Apprentice will be involved in day-to-day tasks to support healthcare professionals, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to the overall patient care experience. Requirements

• Must be a current High School Student, 16 years of age or older
• Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Interest in pursuing a career in healthcare
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a healthcare environment

Nice To Haves

• Basic understanding of medical terminology helpful

Responsibilities

• Apply infection prevention controls, standard precautions and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
• Maintain inventory
• Prepare supplies, instruments, and equipment for use
• Operate lab equipment
• Assist in Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) waived tests
• Dispose of biohazard waste
• Perform clerical tasks
