About The Position

Responsible for accurately locating, identifying and safely removing parts from vehicles. This role involves removing parts from vehicles for work orders within suggested time constraints in a safety-conscious manner, potentially using tools like lifts, forklifts, torches, and power wrenches. The Yard Tech will verify the quality of parts, report discrepancies, and ensure parts are clean before delivery to Quality Control. Responsibilities also include moving vehicles and parts without causing damage, potentially operating forklifts after certification, and maintaining company vehicles. Familiarity with smartphone technology and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are expected.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience or knowledge in the automotive industry.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Forklift certification.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, and talk or hear.
  • Primarily on their feet for long periods of time.
  • Frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Training and certification available for forklift operation.
  • Previous experience is a benefit but is not required.
  • New members will be provided with the proper training and equipment to do the job at task.

Responsibilities

  • Locate the part that is designated on the work order or sales invoice and ensure the description matches the merchandise description.
  • Remove parts from vehicles for work orders within suggested time constraints in a safety conscious manner; may use lifts, forklifts, torches, power wrenches, power saws.
  • Verify the quality of parts and report any discrepancies utilizing the Automotive Recycling Association (ARA) part system and guidelines.
  • Ensure that all parts pulled are clean and brought to the Quality Control department for Quality assurance.
  • Move vehicles and parts without damaging vehicles, parts, property or injuring personnel.
  • May be required to operate certain types of forklifts or heavy machinery after appropriate certification.
  • You are expected to have your own tools. Some will be provided by Wilberts.
  • Familiarity with smartphone technology.
  • Maintenance of assigned company lot vehicle is expected.
  • May be responsible for the safe and accurate sectioning of vehicles to customer specifications.
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures.
