About The Position

The General Laborer performs varied tasks supporting other job descriptions within the Maintenance department. The role is full-time, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and reports to the General Manager. It is classified as non-exempt. Training and equipment are provided; prior experience is beneficial but not required.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Valid driver's license.
Able to regularly stand, walk, use hands, and talk or hear, and to remain on their feet for long periods.
Able to frequently climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Able to regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds; lifting devices or assistance are required for heavier merchandise.

Nice To Haves

Experience or knowledge in the automotive industry.
Forklift certification; training and certification are available.
Previous experience is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

Prepare cores for finalization and shipment after items have been removed from vehicles.
Sort recyclable materials, including metals, glass, wires, paper, and plastics, into appropriate containers.
Clean the recycling yard by sweeping, raking, picking up broken glass and loose paper debris, and moving barrels and bins.
Separate high-grade metals, such as copper, brass, and aluminum, for recycling.
Break down wheels and tires.
Test, charge, and recycle dismantled vehicle batteries.
Follow all safety policies and procedures.
