About The Position

The General Laborer is responsible for safely and efficiently maintaining the yard and surrounding facilities. The role includes maintaining the yard and recycling buildings, clearing debris and trash from the yard and processing area, processing tire and wheel assemblies, and performing on-site setup, preparation, and cleanup. The employee must follow safety policies and procedures and be able to work outdoors in the elements. The position is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and reports to the Operations Manager. It is classified as non-exempt. Work regularly involves moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions; the work environment is smoke-free and usually loud. The employee is on their feet for long periods and may need lifting devices or assistance with heavier merchandise.

Requirements

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds; use lifting devices or assistance for heavier merchandise.
Ability to stand, walk, use hands, and talk or hear; remain on feet for long periods; and frequently climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Ability to work outside in the elements.

Nice To Haves

Experience or knowledge in the automotive industry.
Previous experience is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

Perform quality maintenance of the yard and recycling buildings.
Clear debris and trash from the yard and processing area for customers and equipment.
Process tire and wheel assemblies, including dismounting, pricing, and sorting.
Perform on-site setup, preparation, and cleanup tasks.
Follow all safety policies and procedures.
